Eaton Research Labs (ERL) is currently seeking a Senior Engineer Specialist for our Corporate Technology team in Southfield, MI. Relocation assistance available.Position Overview:Eaton is a power management company made up of over 92,000 employees, doing business in more than 175 countries. The position will be a senior technical role and will act as the subject matter expert in cold spray additive manufacturing. The expectations are for this person to develop and maintain the technical road map for cold spray technology. Provide technical support for other additive manufacturing technologies such as metal binder jetting, laser powder bed fusion and electron beam additive manufacturing. Provide process and qualification support to the businesses in additive manufacturing. Define, guide and execute on the business and government projects. Responsible for acquiring funding through government and business proposals. Maintain and develop key relationships with external partners in government agencies, universities and industrial partners. Build on the technical reputation for Eaton Research Labs through giving internal and external presentations/talks, participation in professional societies and organizations and having a leadership role in conferences.   • Lead a global business in development of cold spray applications.
  • Set the technology roadmap for research and development for cold spray technology.
  • Responsible for winning funding opportunities to support the technology roadmap.
  • Work with the businesses to support application identification and business case development.
  • Research and develop projects to meet technical and business milestones.
  • Guide and support Eaton businesses through the part qualification process.

    • Master's degree from an accredited institution
    • 7 years' experience
    • Hands on experience in cold spray and/or direct energy deposition
    • Experience in aerospace part qualification

      Preferred Qualifications
      • 10 years' experience
      • PhD from an accredited institution
      • Government project experiencePosition Criteria
        • Technology Knowledge - Cold spray additive manufacturing, metal binder jetting, laser powder bed fusion, modeling and simulation, design for additive manufacturing, process qualification, aerospace part qualification process, and working knowledge of aerospace quality systems
        • Demonstrated ability to building relationships of people with diverse backgrounds
