POSITION PURPOSE:

The Manufacturing Quality Manager is responsible for acting as an extension of the Plant Quality Manager, assisting with day to day activity, standardizing the corrective action process between plants and working in the best interest of Challenge Manufacturing Company to support a World Class Quality culture.

RESPONSIBLITIES AND RESULTS:

HE/SHE is responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of a CUSTOMER-FOCUSED culture within the organization.
HE/SHE is primary responsible for communication with Customers, on quality objectives, and when such corrective actions are necessary to ensure the quality management system (QMS) is maintained.
HE/SHE ensures that Customer Specific Requirements and expectations of customers have been accurately identified, communicated, and that the plant site is always meeting or exceeding such customer expectations in finished product quality.
HE/SHE is responsible for ensuring that all other system managers, process owners and supervisors, at the plant site, develop and maintain their part/role in the quality management system.
HE/SHE will maintain daily quality checks on the processes, documentation, and metrics to ensure activities by other process owners and supervisors is being completed.
HE/SHE is primary responsible for data collection, metrics monitoring, and the publication of statistics regarding plant performance against set corporate measures.
HE/SHE monitors and advises the Plant Manager and representatives of Corporate Quality on how the quality management system at the plant site is performing.
HE/SHE is primary responsible for identifying needs of the quality management system at the plant site - to improve or support corporate quality or customer requirements.
Maintain, review, and assess Key Core Compliance Tools (i.e, regulatory standards, publications, and other Customer Specific Requirements) required of the QMS, customers and other ISO/IATF System.
Train Quality Engineering and Quality Assurance Staff in accordance with such Key Core Compliance Tools, Customer Specific Requirements, and ISO/IATF System requirements.
Monitor and prepare customer satisfaction reports (including: PRR/HTR/DTR/Severity Rating/s-IBP and other metrics of customer or corporate performance).
Respond to customer complaints and establish the appropriate corrective actions necessary to contain, prevent, correct, and propose permanent solutions for process/product improvement.
Establish and lead Fast Response and Customer Containment initiatives, to expedite response to customer complaints, with plant authority to lead, contain, quarantine, or institute other measures as necessary to prevent further field escapes to customers.
Provide plant site representation to customers, third party suppliers, and other third party regulatory or ISO/IATF Standards Organization representatives.
Works closely with corporate and plant site Supplier Quality Management to establish supplier quality performance criteria and monitor supplier performance at the plant site.
Works closely with other managers and staff, related to new launch, product design production and purchasing, as requested or necessary per customer requirements.
Ensures launch of engineering changes and launch of new products follow appropriate documented APQP requirements and provides final plant representation for the acceptance of quality criteria on manufactured product.
Supervises technical staff in carrying out required quality testing - fixture checks, gages, calibration tests and laboratory tests, both on the manufacturing floor and laboratory environment.
Ensures customer specific requirements relative to product validation and error-proofing checks in manufacturing process; are properly established in process control plans and that such requirements are understood, carried out, performed and evaluated prior to any by-pass or changes in the manufacturing process.
Supervises the QMS program for internal auditing related to general layered audits, process control audits, and additional product audit checks.
Supervises the QMS program for customer required certifications, regulatory standards, or other ISO/IATF Standards.
Champions and leads all project modules of Continual Improvement as related to process, product or customer quality expectations.
Participates, as necessary, in Problem Control and Corrective Actions related to process, product or customer complaints.
Identifies and reports out plant needs relative to structural, material, process control, training, or other employee cultural practices to support/enhance the quality management system. Authority to request resources and purchase orders in accordance with such needs in support of the quality management system.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Ability to plan and manage at both strategic and operation levels.
Expert knowledge in Microsoft Office Applications.
Outstanding consultative selling skills.
Excellent communication, follow-thru, interpersonal, presentation, problem solving, and analytical skills.
Team player and self-directed.
Use good quality tools to train and develop employees
Knowledge of the IATF and AIAG requirements

TRAVEL:
Up to 60% overnight travel required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of five years' OEM Quality Management experience required
Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred
Technical or automotive background is a strong plus
