Employment Type:Part timeShift:Day ShiftDescription:Nuclear Medicine TechnologistSt. Joseph Mercy Health SystemUnder the direction of the radiologist and the Nuclear Medicine Supervisor, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist will complete Nuclear Medicine procedures with the use of a variety of technical skills involve in the diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine. He/she will perform all Nuclear Medicine procedures as assigned. Will assist the scheduling of patient procedures, equipment repairs, ordering supplies and work progress as related to Nuclear Medicine.The Nuclear Medicine technologist will be responsible for technical procedures in the Nuclear Medicine Department at a prescribed standard established by the Department. This position requires initiative and independent judgement and specific ability to relate with other personnel and patients in a professional manner. The Nuclear Medicine technologist will be expected to work closely with their supervisor and with the radiologist coordinating the activity in the Nuclear Medicine section of Radiology.What you will Need:High School diploma or GED equivalent.Satisfactory completion of an AMA approved Nuclear Medicine Training Program.Associates' degree in Allied Health. Bachelors Degree preferred.Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Nuclear Medicine Technology or society of Nuclear Medicine certification.Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification.Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary in order to deal effectively with various levels of hospital personnel, outside customers and community groups.One year experience as a Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist.What you will do:Reviews daily schedule and orders appropriate does form pharmacy. Insures that prescription matches exam ordered ( if inpatient check chart). Responsibilities for greeting patients, obtaining appropriate history, explaining the procedure to the patient and providing any additional information/instructions. responsible for setting up the camera for proper acquisition protocol and positioning a patient. Insure that proper dose has been drawn, enter dose activity into Hot Lab Computer and complete dose sheet. Performs acquisition process.Process data/film, check with radiologist and release patient. Responsible for updating patient x-ray jacket and take to alternator. Be available to respond to physicians, schedulers, offices and nursing units for any nuclear medicine inquires.Performs all nuclear medicine scans completely and efficiency. Dispose of radioactive syringes and other patient waste products according to department standards. Survey with GM counter entire department and record results.Perform weekly wipe smears and record results. Adheres to Alara Program. Maintains continuing education credits for annual renewal of certification.Demonstrates and actively promotes an understanding and commitment to the mission of St. Joseph Mercy Oakland through performing behaviors consistent with the Trinity Health Values.Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations, the Trinity Health Organizational Integrity Program, including the Standards of Conduct, Code of Ethics, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behaviors.Supports and conducts one's self in a manner consistent with customer service expectations.In accordance with unit or departmental practice, determines that appropriate charges have been entered for the correct patient, encounter, date/time of service, with any required modifiers. Make corrections as needed per charge capture policy/practice.In accordance with unit or departmental practice, actively participates in on-going education and communication regarding revenue management.In accordance with unit or departmental practice, assists with tracking and monitoring of equipment assigned to the unit.
