helping people move from crisis to hope. For the past 50 years, we
have been dedicated to helping people with mental illness and
others in critical situations. Here at Common Ground, the people we
serve come first. We have identified the need for a Behavioral
Health Urgent Care in our community. It will be the first of its
kind in the Oakland County region. The Clinic will treat people
experiencing mild to moderate mental health crises, provide urgent
psychiatric care treatment, and fill the gap between emergency
rooms and slow office visits. Our highly trained staff will be
dedicated to serving the person in need with the best crisis care
in the region. The service will be delivered in two main methods,
virtual telehealth, and a walk-in facility. The clinic will first
provide a virtual telehealth option that will be an ongoing
alternative to in-person, face-to-face treatment. SUMMARY: The
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is a part of the Behavioral Health
Urgent Care (BHUC), which is comprised of the following titles:
Nurse Practitioner, Clinicians, and the Program Manager. The
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will provide co-occurring
psychiatric/substance use/medical evaluation and treatment to
children and adults in crisis. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
is an at-will position that reports to the BHUC Manager. This
position will demonstrate an advanced level of clinical knowledge,
communication and interdisciplinary collaboration that will work
with individuals and families/caregivers who are experiencing
behavioral health crises. Emphasis will be placed on the provision
of problem-focused, time-limited psychotherapy in conjunction with
other mental health professionals. The Psychiatric Nurse
Practitioner will provide care within his/her scope of practice as
outlined by applicable state law, licensing, regulations,
institutional policy, and practice agreements. ESSENTIAL JOB
FUNCTIONS: In collaboration with overseeing psychiatrist, provide
psychiatric services to children and adults through psychiatric
evaluation, medication review and prescription, consultation to
staff/family members/provider network, etc. Provide emergency
medication review for persons served within the Oakland County
Health Network (OCHN) Provide active psychiatric treatment which
includes psychiatric evaluation, medication review, medication
prescribing, and any other psychiatric service Provide psychiatric
services to persons served in Common Ground services across
programs such as Oakland Assessment and Crisis Intervention Service
(OACIS) and Crisis Residential Unit (CRU) Evaluate the consumer's
medication needs and write prescriptions to start medically
necessary medications for people who have been authorized by
licensed master clinician to the CRU Ensure all paperwork is
complete and provide person/family with necessary copies of signed
documents Comply with attendance and punctuality policies, as well
as all other Common Ground policies and procedures RELATED JOB
FUNCTIONS: Utilize recovery principles while comforting people in
crisis and provide hope, choice, empowerment in a recovery
environment Develop understanding and management of wellness and
triggers Encourage persons and families we serve to be actively
involved with planning and treatment Assist with linking
adults/children with substance use issues to the appropriate
substance abuse service Perform other job-related duties as

Current behavioral management and de-escalation techniques in a

principles and values with knowledge, decisions, and treatment of
all people served REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master's
Degree or Doctorate Degree as a Nurse Practitioner with a focus on
psychiatric nursing Must be licensed/certified as a Nurse
Practitioner from Michigan State Board of Nursing and ANA/ANCC
Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Completion of
an accredited program as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse
Practitioner, including preceptorship Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA)
license Controlled Substance License Minimum of one (1) year
psychiatric nursing experience in crisis work and client/patient
screening and assessment Minimum of two (2) years' experience in
providing direct client care to persons receiving treatment for
psychiatric disorders Experience with telemedicine, preferred
Experience providing medication management for psychiatric
patients, preferred Experience working in therapy strategies,
preferred ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical Requirements: The

Environmental Working Requirements: The Behavioral Health Urgent
Care Nurse Practitioner is required to have a private, at-home
office environment free from distractions and conducive to handling
sensitive video calls/texts/chats. The job requires exposure to
computer screen(s). Assignments may require work to be done on an
individual basis or in virtual teams with members at various
staffing levels. Common Ground will provide essential technology
and equipment including laptops. A minimum internet speed of 45
Mbps (Megabits per second) download and 7 Mbps upload (with a
latency ping of under 100 MS) is required. A hard-wired (coax or
fiber cable) connection is recommended, but not required. Common
Ground will not cover the cost of home internet. Internet speed
will be tested prior to the employee starting. An internet speed
result that meets or exceeds the minimum as outlined above is
required before the employment start date. Other Requirements: All
electronic or hard copy documents are complete, accurate, and
signed prior to end of shift. Attitude and actions are aligned with
