Duties include, but are not limited to:ADMISSION DUTIES:Conduct and document the complete Nursing Assessment, including skin assessment and nutrition assessment.Identify, document and prioritize mental/medical problems, including the need for detoxification as appropriate.Complete the medication reconciliation.Obtains admission orders from physician and completes nursing admission notes.Transcribes and notes Doctor's Orders.Initiate the Initial Multidisciplinary Treatment Plan, noting Initial Diagnosis, Psychiatric/Psychosocial problem (minimum of 1) and obtain patient's signature, if applicable.Inventory Patient's Home Medication with patient's signature and notify House Supervisor to retrieve for patient lock-up until discharged.Initiate precautions as indicated.ASSESSMENT DUTIES:Document patient information and nursing care in the provision of nursing services.Report any signs or symptoms of infection in patients to the Infection Control Nurse.Verify the accuracy of patient records.INTERVENTION DUTIES:Employ principles of communication, interviewing techniques and problem-solving and crisis intervention when performing psychotherapeutic interventions.Intervention is based on knowledge of psychiatric and medical nursing procedures as well as the plan of care.Utilize appropriate interventions in psychiatric and medical emergencies.TREATMENT PLANNING:Prioritize and formulate an initial plan of care based on patient assessment and according to policy.MILIEU:Consistently utilize universal precautions and environmental safety guidelines. Utilize self as a role model to promote health communication.QualificationsPOSITION REQUIREMENTS:Education:Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.Experience:A minimum of two (2) years' experience in a psychiatric health-care facility preferred.Licensure:Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Michigan Board of Nursing. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: A working knowledge of the DSM-IVR and the Mental Status Exam.A working knowledge of the Addiction and Recovery field.CPR certification and successful completion of a nationally recognized Crisis De-escalation Intervention training.Training may be obtained.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of psychiatric and medical nursing procedures is essential.Knowledge of all code procedures.Knowledge of Mental Health Laws and Child Abuse/Neglect/Maltreatment laws, and the DHS provider agreement, as applicable.Employees must be in good standing (employment/corrective action history, performance evaluation, etc.) to be considered for internal transfers.EEO StatementAll UHS subsidiaries are committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where equal employment opportunities are available to all applicants and teammates.
