Experience in a rehabilitation setting Experience with patient
ratios of 4/5:1 in rehab and 4:1 in surgical Description: This
position requires a Registered Nurse to work in a rehabilitation
unit. The unit caters to patients who require physical therapy,
occupational therapy, or speech-language therapy for at least 3
hours a day, 5 days a week. The surgical unit takes patients from
the operating room who are expected to stay for a night or two. The
role involves working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams,
including physical therapy and pharmacy. Candidates should
demonstrate competence in continuous bladder irrigation, oxygen
administration, tracheostomy care, and other key nursing skills.
The patient age group includes adolescents, adults, and pediatrics.
Medium daily census is expected. Flexible scheduling is essential,
as weekend coverage is required. The position requires
adaptability, as there may be a need for floating to different
areas within the scope of practice. Candidates should be prepared
for diverse patient diagnoses, including those needing
rehabilitation after acute admissions. Strong communication and
teamwork skills are also necessary for success in this role.
