Materials Test Technician ----We are looking for a hard-working automotive engineering test technician to join our Materials testing team in Farmington Hills, Michigan.--The ideal candidate will have a flexible skillset in order to support a variety of testing on new product development.-- This role will be responsible for recommending, planning, conducting and ensuring quality-of-product evaluations of various metallic and polymeric materials and coatings, used for the development of high quality, cost effective automotive parts and technologies.-- The role will require coordination with internal product engineers and technicians, as well as external equipment vendors, parts/materials suppliers, and manufacturing plants to achieve company KPIs. This position may require travel, overtime work on some weekends, and/or off-shift work as needed.----Materials Test Technician responsibilities include:------------------

• Carrying out material tests and evaluations using industry and company standards to achieve accurate results
• Documenting results in accurate and error free reports, and communicating precisely and professionally with technicians, engineers, and management teams
• Maintaining laboratory equipment calibrations and certifications, and completing minor maintenance and repairs, as well as understanding future equipment needs
• Assisting the engineering teams with troubleshooting, root cause analysis and developing effective countermeasures
• Tracking personal progress to ensure department and corporate objectives are met
• Creating detailed technical documents to support test setup and operationMinimum Qualifications:
  • Associates degree in Chemical or Materials-related field plus at least one year of relevant job experience
  • Experience with testing methods and equipment for automotive materials and coatings such as mechanical testing (Tensile, Impact, Hardness, Scratch/Mar), adhesion, environmental/corrosion testing, durability, and analytical techniques (Optical Microscopy, SEM, FTIR, DSC)
  • Familiarity with automotive vehicle/parts development process desired
  • Familiarity with measurement error, correlation and statistics desired
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
