As an Advanced Systems Architect at Whisker, you will lead architecture on upcoming smart connected Pet products, help drive the overall strategy & roadmap, and be a part of the teams designing, building, and testing prototypes to improve pet's and pet owner's experiences and lives. The role requires expert technical communication with cross-functional teams across ID, hardware engineering, software engineering, partnerships, supply chain and core technology groups to drive incubation of new technologies from proof of concept through integration into products for mass production. The Advanced Systems Architect is responsible for overall technical leadership and technical realization of key feature sets, maturing advanced concepts to product feasibility and working with the leadership to define the future roadmap at Whisker. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the technical delivery on architectural problems in the advanced development stage of a project
  • Engages with technology project leads, and various SMEs in creating the overall system architecture and platform as the starting point for product execution
  • Creates proof of concepts
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams on blank-slate and early-phase prototyping and product exploration, mapping it strategically and troubleshooting product issues which need to be resolved
  • Drives the development of system requirements, advance technology and research roadmaps to create new pet experiences
  • Collects organization specifications and takes part in product description and prioritization of functionality, including consumer usability studies
  • Prepares written criteria for activities with mid-level difficulty from verbal requirements
  • Prepares design, practical, technological and/or user documentation
  • Leads all system level decisions through the development of the product through to production
  • Will perform additional responsibilities when required
    Requirements & Qualifications
    • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, other related technical field and/or equivalent experience
    • 8+ years of product experience in electrical, mechanical or embedded software engineering with demonstrated success leading one or more complex projects/applications
    • Experience with architecture and systems engineering across electrical, firmware, and mechanical systems
    • Experience with SoC evaluation, sensors, algorithms, software, and ability to work collaboratively with experts in different fields to make architectural tradeoffs
    • Experience in rapid prototyping and proof of concept work
    • Experience working and communicating with Product Development Engineers, Product Managers and other hardware/software cross functional teams
    • Excellent technical understanding of consumer electronics and robotics
    • Ability to maintain a professional atmosphere in a fast-paced environment with numerous interactions and interruptions
    • High degree of initiative, self-motivation and ability to motivate others
    • Ability to provide a working atmosphere that is positive and productive
    • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with team members and colleaguesNot Required but nice to have!
      • Strong systems skills with previous experience driving architecture convergence on consumer electronics products
      • Experience with audio and optical systems
      • Not required to have pets, but highly recommended!
