RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe Early Childhood Education Curriculum Implementation Coordinator is responsible for supporting the management of the Children's Learning Centers and Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) located at both the Walled Lake and Pontiac location. The Early Childhood Education Curriculum Implementation Coordinator is responsible for implementing and coaching staff regarding program components, including (but not limited to): childcare services, preschool and summer camp programming, onboarding, training and professional development of all teaching support staff. The Coordinator is also responsible for the oversight of the Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist. The Early Childhood Education Curriculum Implementation Coordinator reports to both the Walled Lake and Pontiac Early Childhood Education Site Managers.
SPECIFIC DUTIES/JOB EXPECTATIONSProgram Management

  • Provides program supervision in the absence of the Site Supervisor to assure that state licensing requirements and standards promulgated by our accreditors are met.
  • Provides training, coaching and observations to support staff. Provides supportive feedback, models strategies to support teaching staff surrounding best practice, HighScope implementation, classroom management and lesson planning.
  • Supervises the Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist.
  • Assists in the implementation of positive behavior strategies and plans as needed.
  • Provide classroom coverage when necessary.
  • In conjunction with the Early Childhood leadership team assists and participates in analyzing program data from PQA (Program Quality Assessment) and COR (Child Observation Record) results and input from Oakland Schools to set, implement and review program goals.
  • In conjunction with the Early Childhood leadership team assists in the planning and implementation of the department and Agency events such as quarterly staff meetings and trainings, etc.Personnel Administration
    • In collaboration with the Early Childhood Education Manager, supports staff hiring, assignment and performance management issues.
    • Provides team and individual consultation and meetings with teaching support staff at both Pontiac and Walled Lake Children's Learning Centers.
    • In collaboration with the Childrens Learning Center Leadership team, develops and facilitates regular, on-going staff development and training activities on early childhood, developmental delays, parent education, etc.General Administration
      • Participants in Children Learning Center leadership and behavioral meetings, the Early Childhood Department cabinet meetings and all Agency required leadership meetings.
      • Supports and ensures compliance with Agency policies and procedures.
      • Other duties as assigned.PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to be physical and capable of successfully managing an early learning environment. The employee is frequently required to sit and/or stand for 8 hours or more. Staff must have the ability to reach with hands and arms and must occasionally lift up and move up to 25 pounds. Some driving is necessary. Occasionally, the position requires the employee to work irregular or extended hours.
        WORK ENVIRONMENTThe noise level of the work environment is typically moderate to loud. While performing the duties of this job you may encounter sporadic interruptions which may affect the efficient completion of the days tasks. This position requires an individual who is capable at efficiently handling multiple tasks of different natures and dealing with individuals of various temperaments.This position requires working evenings on occasion to complete enrollments and participate in parent events as well as weekends during the summer for community events attendance.
        QUALIFICATIONS:
        • Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
        • Minimum of two years teaching experience.
        • Selected candidates for this position must possess a sensitivity to the diversity of the Agencys service population including (but not limited to) differences of culture, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation and socioeconomic characteristics.
        • Familiarity with the utilization and implementation of the HighScope Approach.
        • Leadership experience preferred.
        • Excellent communication skills that focus on positive and professional communication with children, parents and staff members.
        • Ability and skills in the team approach to planning and problem solving.
        • Utilization of positive management techniques in program operation.
        • Other relevant qualifications that support positive performance in the position.
        • Ability to accept supervisory direction and to work independently on assigned tasks.
        • Skills in office procedures, data entry and human services.
