The Outpatient Clinician in the Specialized Services for Youth department will develop and use the various modalities of service offered by the agency.The Outpatient Clinician in the Specialized Services for Youth department reports to the Outpatient Supervisor of Specialized Services for Youth.The following represents a summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents in this position. Incumbents may be requested to perform related tasks other than those specifically presented.SPECIFIC DUTIES/JOB EXPECTATIONSProfessional Practice

  • The Clinician provides appropriate service to a caseload in accordance with agency needs and the skill level of the worker. The number of client contacts that the worker will be expected to have will be established by administration.
  • The Clinician is responsible to: obtain, analyze and evaluate case data; develop an understanding of the client's situation and to develop goals and planned responses; carry out the plan and/or alter the plan as new understandings demand; analyze and evaluate the course and results of the treatment process, and utilize evidenced based practices as indicated.
  • Maintain clinical records in accordance with Agency, licensing, accreditation, Community Mental Health, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services standards and requirements.
  • Actively coordinate cases with treatment team, case managers, Community Mental Health and any other appropriate staff.
  • Participate in Evidenced Based Practices and training cohorts offered through Community Mental Health.
  • Participate in professional development activities in accordance with state licensure requirements and any requirements of the funder, specifically in accordance with the Medicaid provider manual and Oakland Community Health Network requirements.
  • Additional duties may include: client intake; volunteer recruitment and supervision, assignment to specific agency work sites; assignment to a special project or contract; provision of leadership to educational or counseling or volunteer groups; to work with community problems as interest and skill indicates; and other duties as assigned.Administration
    • Perform selected and additional administrative assignments as required, including student supervision.
    • Perform the administrative tasks related to assigned caseload and other work assignments as required by the agency.
    • Provide assistance, support and leadership to other staff members through consulting, teaching and other means as appropriate, and to coordinate program activities when assigned to do so. QUALIFICATIONS:
      • Successful completion of the requirements of a master's degree from an accredited school of social work or equivalent in related field such as psychology or guidance and counseling as appropriate to the needs of the particular position.
      • State certification or licensure either a Limited License or Full License commensurate with accrued experience and degree obtained.
      • Minimum of two years of experience in the examination, evaluation, and treatment of minors and their families post master's degree.
      • Selected candidates for this position must possess a sensitivity to the diversity of the Agency's service population including (but not limited to) differences of culture, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation and socioeconomic characteristics.
      • Other special abilities, skills and credentials such as experience working in the Community Mental Health System, substance abuse qualifications, experience with youth with serious emotional disturbances, family systems work and trauma-informed care and use of evidenced based models.
      • Special abilities and skills necessary to perform the required tasks and that best meet the needs of the agency also will be considered. Any standard above may be waived when compensating specifications or circumstances exist.As of Jan. 7, 2022, all new hires must:
        • (A) Already be fully vaccinated in advance of starting employment, OR
        • (B) Complete a single-dose vaccine - or - the first shot of a two-dose vaccine by their first day of employment at Oakland Family Services; those pursuing a two-dose vaccine have 30 days to complete the process and will be required to follow required testing protocols during the interim. Oakland Family Services complies with all applicable laws and regulations, and, as such, considers all requests for medical or religious exemptions from the vaccination requirements and offers legally entitled reasonable accommodations.
